In 2005 it’s not that it doesn’t look good, but this is 2010, that sort of effect isn’t spectacular, it’s been done for years now. It is kind of like real life, only you can’t equip sunglasses, so you can tend to run quickly and look away from the monitor. The first time it happened to you that your monitor blowing up, or that your eyes were failing. Just have fun in FFXIV.
When you try to run under an overhang at an aetheryte camp, the rain still comes through the cloth (as if you aren’t under anything. The graphics look nice, nothing spectacular for 2010, but the real problem is that the performance is abnormally low. Lower than a game producing those graphical effects should be. Crysis was a game that was beautiful. Even though it had remarkably high system requirements, the performance demand actually resulted in extremely pretty graphics. The textures are nicer, but they still just look like wallpaper on the ground/walls. The water effects are nonexistent. Walk into a stream or pond.
